Join Contemporary at Blue Star and Red Dot Artists Madison Cowles Serna and Alán Serna to learn more about the artists’ work and art practice. Both artists have work featured in the Red Dot Collectors Preview and will be a part of the Red Dot Show at Contemporary at Blue Star, September 23 – October 4, 2020. The online presentation will feature more information about collecting at Contemporary at Blue Star’s Red Dot as well as presentations by each of these artists. About the artists:

Madison Cowles Serna earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in 2018, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2013. Originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Cowles Serna has spent the majority of her time in Texas. Her work explores a variety of themes, primarily introspection and sexual assault, through the use of printmaking, painting, and installation.

Alán Serna is a mixed media artist from Huanusco, Zacatecas, MX. Currently, Serna’s work deals with locational identity, digital migration mapping, and his experiences as a first generation immigrant. Serna holds a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from The University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from The University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio, TX. Serna’s work has been exhibited nationally. He runs the press Feral Editions along with Madison Cowles Serna.
