Rosario Guerrero was curated by Alice Carrington and featured Rosario Guerrero’s recent works. The birth of the resin work occurred one-and-a-half years before the millennium. As homage to this momentous anniversary, Guerrero wanted to include light in her sculptures and found the resin allowed her to capture light because of its transparency. The colors in each work relate to the inner light of human beings, as Guerrero believes that each of us is represented by a certain color. Because resin is so heavy, Guerrero began using bubble wrap inside each sculpture before casting. The bubble wrap is made from petroleum, and being one of the oldest by-products of organic matter, Guerrero had incorporated the elements of water, air and earth in each of the works. Candles are placed inside these sculptures and thus incorporating the fourth basic element, fire.
