Made by Hand: Straight to Video, an exhibition of international video art was curated by Riley Robinson. The show consisted of works from Nathalie Djurberg, Robert Gligorov, Juha Van Ingen, Chris Musgrave, and Ola Pehrson. Each artist had a different approach and process for their works. Van Ingen of Helsinki, Finland, took a minimalistic approach, recording simple images of pieces of white paper falling on top of each other, creating lines and shadows. Musgrave showed images of a pair of flickering fluorescent lights in Chat, which crackle and flash. He liked the spontaneity of the piece, and was interested in inducing uncertainty and wonder. Pehrson (Stockholm, Sweden) presented a pseudo-documentary on Plates (& Bowls). The plates and bowls appear to merge and change shape as a robotic voice proves trivial facts. The surrealist video Bobe’s Legendwas made by Robert Gligorov. The face of a man is shown, who slowly opens his mouth to reveal a live bird that flies away.
