Featuring Bodil Furu
Landscapes By The Book is filmed in the municipality of Fron in Norway. The film portrays the alteration of landscapes through flooding and highway construction, and its effects upon the people inhabiting these places. Another focal point for the film is the now rejected plans for the development of a new hydroelectric power plant in the river Lågen, where both supporters and protesters reflect about what might have become the consequences. The film dwells on risk-taking and how common land(scapes) are affected by modernity and the growth of society. By the use of local myths and traditional music, the film shows us more than the actual landscapes might reveal to us.
