Container/Contained featured the work of Tom Hollenback. Hollenback’s interest in architecture is multi-layered. “Architecture relates to the body in numerous ways in addition to articulating space on a physically significant scale. The ways bodily systems parallel building systems is a connection that I have been thinking about recently. During the past year, I have become keenly interested in walled structures: how they function not only in formal architectural terms, but how they function socially and psychologically. With this piece, as with other recent installations, I have been investigating the implications of some of the many definitions and attributes of walls, including enclosure, inclusion, exclusion, shelter and containment.” –Tom Hollenback
