For over 300 years San Antonio has been a crossroads between cultures. In 2014, Luminaria celebrated San Antonio’s heritage by presenting “Between North & South”, an inspiring mix of local and international talent. The festival expanded to two nights of art, music and performance, and added its first ever daytime events; a provocative afternoon of discussion chaired by the Western Arts Alliance.

In conjunction with Luminara, Contemporary at Blue Star installed pop-up exhibitions at El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel in the Coronado Ballroom. Featured artists included Mat Kubo, Cathy Cunningham-Little, Jason Reed. Video works by Adan De La Garza, Rocio Garcia, Matthew Anderson, Edmnd Ray Dantes, and Ana Cantu played on a single screen in the center of the ballroom. Saturday night saw live performances by Hypersleep and Roberto Celis.

El Tropicano sold refreshments throughout the weekend and provided restrooms to those patrons. Not to mention, Blue Star Members had access to a “VIP Lounge Area” so they can kick back and relax.
