Beta Projections and Artifacts from Earth

Roy LaGrone created contemporary mythic vistas using as reference points (for his projections) everything from scanned skin, ancestral altars, graffiti, and the living mything of everyday living in his exhibition Beta Projections and Artifacts from Earth, curated by Bernice B. Appelin-Williams. LaGrone’s work personifies the term alternate reality, through constructed intricate illusions of three-dimensional space, heightened with many layers of transmuted elements and references. His computer-generated forms represent the art of “making do”, the skills of seeing possibilities and the aesthetic of transforming trash to treasure.
