The Contemporary offers several Open Call opportunities to ensure artists from San Antonio, Texas, and around the world have the chance to present their work to the curatorial staff and a jury of arts professionals. Now, through a consistent process, artists can submit their portfolios, curricula vitae, and artist statements through an online platform. As a result of this process which began in 2014, the Contemporary has presented over nine acclaimed exhibitions featuring artists selected from the top 10% of applicants. Over 800 artists have applied for exhibition opportunities. A few select previous open calls remain visible to give artists an idea of application guidelines.
