Family Saturday

Saturday, May 13, 2023
1–4pm

116 Blue Star

Free and open to the public

Join us for an afternoon of free, hands-on art making activities designed by the Contemporary’s exhibiting artists. This Saturday, join us for workshops led by In Passing: Fronteño Epics from Across Time artist Juan de Dios Mora, and Hiromi Stringer, whose solo exhibition, The Dog Show: Time Traveler Umeyama’s Drawings from the 21st Century is currently on view.

Additionally, we are pleased to present the public unveiling of A Monument for the People, a participatory art project that invites youth to reimagine what monuments are and who they are for in our community. This project was initiated by artist Mark Menjívar in collaboration with over 450 students from the CAST School network. Visitors will have an opportunity to contribute their own monuments to the project! Thank you to the San Antonio Area Foundation and Blue Meridian Partners for their financial support of A Monument for the People.

Family Saturday is a free, all-ages afternoon for exploring art through artist-designed activities and workshops. Support for Family Saturday at the Contemporary at Blue Star is generously provided by the King William Association and Ricos.
