Featuring James Surls
On occasion, Contemporary at Blue Star commissions artists to create giclée prints for the Blue Star Print Project Collection. These prints are of an edition that is marketed on behalf of Blue Star’s education and exhibition programs. Past commissioned artists include Dan Borris, John Henry, Graciela Iturbide, Zane Lewis, Cesar Martinez, Alex Rubio, and Vincent Valdez.
Honored as a living legend, artist James Surls is one of Texas’ most acclaimed native sons. His work has been exhibited across Texas and the U.S. and is part of public collections from Amsterdam to San Antonio. Though primarily known for his sculptures of wood, steel and bronze, the organic grace and unique style of his three-dimensional work translates seamlessly into his collection of drawings and prints. It is with great pride that Contemporary at Blue Star presents these rarely seen drawings from the Blue Star Print Project Collection.
