Friday, April 18, 2025
6–7:30pm

Join the Contemporary in celebrating National Poetry Month with a special reading of Tang Dynasty poetry. This event complements the Sizhu Li: Moonment: Finding a Way exhibition, and the installation pieces which reflect upon the poem Gazing at the Moon, Longing from Afar by Tang Dynasty poet and politician Zhang Jiuling:

Jim LaVilla-Havelin, Arrie Porter, Eddie Vega, and Mobi Warren will bring to life the timeless work of Tang Dynasty poets such as Han Shan, Wang Wei, and others whose work continue to resonate with us today. The Tang Dynasty is often regarded as the golden age of Chinese poetry, capturing themes of nature, relationships, social and political critique, and the transient beauty of life, the poems invite everyone to reflect and consider their meaning.

This event is free and open to everyone with registration (link below).
