Mary Beth Edelson Re-scripting the Story: 1970-2000 was curated by Alissa Friedman. The traveling exhibition included Mary Beth Edelson’s feminist artworks of the 1970’s and her current work: posters, collages, performance, drawings, oil paintings, video, photographs, chiffons, and story gathering boxes. This exhibition provided a sense of the circumstances of feminist art production in the ‘70s when studio practice, community activism, art history, theory and criticism momentarily converged. The exhibition offered a timely opportunity for a critical examination of feminist art in general, as well as a consideration of the current climate of women’s agency in religion, popular culture, and politics.
