Blue Star Four was curated by Lucy Lippard, “I slipped into curating Blue Star 4 on a banana peel strategically placed by the Guerrilla Girls, whose cartoon campaign for increased representation of women and artists of color has added a new dimension to monkeying around.” Lippard deliberately chose a large number of diverse San Antonio artists: Judy Bankhead, Catherine Cisneros, Princess Cook, Alejandro Diaz, Marlys Dietrick, Linda Wyatt Duncan, Mollie Fleming, Bill Fitzgibbons, Carolina Flores, Javier Galan, Mary Jessie Garza, Jose Gpe. Guadiana, Joseph Kalmowitz, Kristine Kenner, Marilyn Lanfear, Paul Pak-Hing Lee, David Mackie, David Miner, Suzanne Paquette, Sarah C. Pierce, Pedro C. Ramirez, Tobin Richter, Daron R. Sachs, Joe M. Salazar, Ansen Seale, Trish Simonite, Laura Ann Stuart, Cary Taylor Tilton, Joann Tilton, Enedina Casarez Vasquez, Andy A. Villarreal, Victoria Von Koeppen, Mary Warner, Vivian Yatteau, Terry A.
