Julie Ault Keynote Lecture

Julie Ault is an artist and curator whose work has redefined artistic practice, the artist’s role in society, and expanded our understanding of how art can generate social change. Her work merges the disciplines of curating, art criticism and theory, and history, to explore arts reciprocity with culture, politics, and social issues. Ault was an active founding member of Group Material, a collaboratively minded artist collective (active 1979-1996). Ault’s recent efforts include a focus on the history of activism in art. Julie Ault holds a B.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York and a Ph.D. from the Malmö Art Academy of Lund University. Publications include Show and Tell: A Chronicle of Group Material;Two Cabins by James Benning; and In Part: Writings by Julie Ault. Ault is a 2018 MacArthur Fellow.
