Soomin Jung Remmler is a San Antonio artist primarily working in drawing and painting. Her landscape drawings are meticulously rendered in gouache, fluorescent gouache, colored pencil and graphite. They subtly integrate unexpected details and color to bounce between the hyper real and the surreal. She utilizes the subject of nature symbolically as something timeless, resilient, and persistent, and for its connection to personal sentimental memories. The works relationship to memory not only draws from real experiences, but the parts of us that formed by books, dreams, and hopes for the generations that follow. Remmler is inspired by the quietness of everyday moments that offer hope and beauty in our lives. This exhibition will feature a selection of Remmler’s recent landscape drawings and her vignettes of daily life.
