Fifty-three years after his first exhibition in San Antonio, Philip John Evett continues to captivate both San Antonio and international audiences with his figurative and sensualy abstracted forms.
BIOGRAPHY:
Philip John Evett was born in Kent, England in 1923. He began his degree in Art Education at Cambridge College of Art in 1938, but left school in 1940 to serve as a member of the Royal Air Force in World War II. After the war, Evett attended Belfast College of Art from 1946 to 1948. After emigrating to the United States in 1954, Evett taught sculpture at the San Antonio Art Institute from 1957 to 1962, later teaching sculpture and drawing at Trinity University from 1962-1987. Evett now serves as Professor Emeritus at Trinity University and works actively in his Blanco, TX studio.
