“Wine” Down Drawing Workshop with Brenden Cicoria

Sunday, May 18, 2025
6–8pm

This drawing workshop will focus on finding forms through a variety of mark making techniques and embracing the imperfect nature of drawn lines. Participants will experiment with pen and ink while drawing from both life and photos, focusing on composition and value in black and white. Specimens will be provided to participants to draw from as well as a large scale still life. Brenden will begin the evening with a brief presentation on their work and guide participants through the drawing experience over evening drinks.

About the Instructor
Brenden Cicoria (they/them) is a Texas-based artist currently living in San Antonio. Working across a range of mediums, Brenden’s practice explores the entropic intersections of civilization and nature. Their work examines the quiet collapse of orderly, human-made environments as they are abandoned or reclaimed by the wild—spaces caught between two worlds. What do these sites and artifacts become once they lose their purpose? How do we shape the natural world to mirror our needs, and what is revealed when that control fades? At the core of Brenden’s work is a deep reflection of what is left behind: the artifacts, structures, and subtle narratives that emerge in the space between control and chaos.
