Contemporary at Blue Star is pleased to announce the return of the Novel Ideas Art Book Fair. This one-night art book fair features artists’ books, monographs, zines, printed ephemera, and more. The fair is envisioned as a platform for artists and publishers to share and sell their work and build community with one another. The fair will happen in the Contemporary’s gallery spaces at 116 Blue Star, San Antonio, TX 78204 on Friday May 5, 2023 from 5pm-9pm.

Parking and transportation
The Novel Ideas Art Book Fair takes place during First Friday, a busy art walk in the King William neighborhood. Parking in the complex is very limited. The Blue Star Arts Complex parking charges a $15 parking fee on First Fridays beginning at 2pm. On average the museum welcomes 700-1,100 visitors on First Fridays between 6-9pm. Below is information regarding parking and transportation to The Contemporary.

-Street parking is free in the surrounding neighborhoods.

-Visitors can park for free at Brackenridge High School’s parking lot during non-school hours only. The lot is a short stroll along the Riverwalk.

-Via bus (#51 stops in front of complex off S.Alamo).

-Rideshares such as Uber and Lyft operate in San Antonio.

-SA Bike Share offers numerous docking stations throughout San Antonio’s cultural destinations.

-Parking in BSAC lot free before 2pm on First Friday. $15, 2pm-12am First Fridays. Free all other times.

-Paid parking at various lots along S.Alamo St. during First Fridays.

-Multiple city lots at the intersection of S.Alamo and César Chávez (20 min walk).
