About the Instructor
Brandon Howard, a native San Antonian, has worked with small business on accounting and tax matters for nearly seven years. After earning a Master’s Degree in Accounting from UTSA, Brandon joined local public accounting firm, ATKG. During his time there, Brandon worked on multiple business entity and individual tax returns. He worked with clients to provide guidance and planning strategies for various tax issues and helped clients to review and manage their ongoing accounting needs. After his time at ATKG, Brandon served as the Assistant Controller for a locally owned, private company – MOOD Texas. Through these experiences, Brandon has learned how to look at companies at a high level and also how to get into the trenches and make the company work day-to-day.
Brandon became a licensed CPA in 2016 and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, The Texas Society of CPAs, The San Antonio Society of CPAs, and the Institute of Management Accountants.
In addition to his client work, Brandon has been adjunct faculty at UTSA and UIW. Teaching tax and accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, Brandon has developed a talent for distilling complex tax and accounting issues into manageable concepts. Teaching is in Brandon’s blood. He comes from a family of educators and, before becoming a CPA, worked as a public school educator in the Judson ISD.
