Summer Exhibitions | Opening Night

Friday, July 11, 2025
6–9pm

Contemporary at Blue Star invites the community to join us for the opening of three new solo exhibitions on Friday, July 11, from 6–9pm. Each of the featured artists, Nadia Botello, Fabiola Menchelli, and Jason Willome create unique installations with artworks that encourage viewers to activate the art through touch or movement. Our opening is free and open to all.

Nadia Botello
Theophany

In her solo exhibition at the Contemporary, sound artist and composer Nadia Botello presents works that consider the San Antonio River as “a shaping force,” inviting us to consider “what the river might be saying for itself.”

Fabiola Menchelli
ombré

Fabiola Menchelli’s practice explores photography through nontraditional techniques, blending the possibilities of photography with other mediums and aesthetics. In ombré, Menchelli continues this explorative process through a new body of photographic prints from her Parallelograms series, making its debut.

Jason Willome
When a Mind Wanders

Jason Willome’s exhibition, When a Mind Wanders, explores humanity’s intrinsic desire to investigate the self and our connection to the unknown. When leaving his father’s home for the last time, Willome was struck with the desire to hold onto that place. This urgency caused him to spontaneously grab a discarded piece of wood—a gesture embodying the central tension of this exhibition: being at the brink between one existence and the next and not knowing what falls in between.
