Blue Star 21 was curated by William Campbell and exhibited artworks from Sabra Booth, Richie Budd, Steven DaLuz, Paloma Diaz, Phyllis Finley, Joan Frederick, Daniel Guajardo, Karen Hogensen, David Isenhour, Maria Kilcha Kane, Marilyn Lanfear, Zane Lewis, Ben Mata, Garrett Mormando, Linda Pace, Irma Rivera, Curt Slangal, Andy Tschoepe, Eric Weller, and George Yepes. The exhibition had a definite vitality and freshness, with new materials, timely objects, social commentary, naiveté, references to art history, technology and more employed in the production of the works. The implication of the cultural influences of the area in the imagery suggested uniqueness, apparent in San Antonio.
