Texas Dialogues: Houston – San Antonio was curated by Jesse Amado and Caroline Huber and exhibited artworks from Houston artists Martha Bush, Debra Chronister, Dave Darraugh, Sharon Engelstein, David Freeman, Andrea Garza, Joseph Havel, Mi Lu, Lisa Ludwig, Tierney Malone, and San Antonio artists Sally Grant, Ken Little, Elizabeth McGrath, Ito Romo, Alex Rubio, Kent Rush, and Margarita Urquize. Jesse Amado wrote, “The artists selected are utilizing the same ingredients as other artists before them, but they’re being recombined and prioritized in a different way. In addition, there is a wanting of the creative process to involve the personal and the emotional… involving a deeper personal investigation without losing sight of something conceptual. And finally these artists were selected because more than anything else, they are not detached from the real issues of human life and history.”
